Real Madrid signed defender Ferland Mendy, 24, from Lyon on Wednesday. 

The player has signed a contract with the club for the next six seasons, running to the 30th of June 2025," the Spanish club said in a statement on its website.

The latest deal worth up to €48 million ($42.5 million) puts Real Madrid's recent spending in excess of €300 million ($265.7 million), according to Spanish media.

The club have already signed Belgium forward Eden Hazard from Chelsea, Serbia striker Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt and Porto defender Eder Militao.
