Leeds United rescued a dramatic 3-3 draw against Liverpool in a wild second half at Elland Road, denying the champions victory deep into stoppage time after a game that exploded into life after the break.

Elland Road witnessed one of the most chaotic games of the Premier League season as Leeds United and Liverpool shared six second-half goals in a breathless 3-3 draw on Saturday night. What began as a cagey, goalless affair turned into an end-to-end spectacle that left both sets of fans stunned.

The opening 45 minutes offered little warning of what was to come. Neither side managed a single shot on target, with Liverpool enjoying more possession while Leeds defended resolutely and looked to strike on the counter.

Everything changed immediately after the restart. Hugo Ekitike capitalised on a defensive error to give Liverpool the lead in the 48th minute before striking again just two minutes later, reacting quickest to a loose ball to suddenly put the Reds two goals clear.

Leeds, however, refused to crumble. Their persistence paid off in the 73rd minute when Ibrahima Konate brought down Wilfried Gnonto in the area, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin confidently dispatched the resulting penalty to spark belief inside Elland Road. Barely two minutes later, Anton Stach made it 2-2, arriving unmarked in the box to slam home and complete a remarkable comeback.

The drama was far from over. Liverpool regained the lead in the 80th minute through Dominik Szoboszlai, who finished coolly from the edge of the area after sharp work from Ryan Gravenberch. With nine minutes of stoppage time indicated, the visitors seemed on course for three much-needed points.

But Elland Road had one final twist. In the sixth minute of added time, Ao Tanaka remained calm amid chaos in the box to fire a precise angled shot past Alisson, sending the home crowd into raptures and sealing an unforgettable finale.

The draw lifts Leeds to 16th in the table and continues their revival after recent struggles, while Liverpool remain stuck in mid-table frustration. Despite edging the expected goals battle, Arne Slot’s side once again paid the price for defensive lapses and an inability to close out games.

For Leeds, it was a night of courage and belief. For Liverpool, it was another bruising reminder that defending champions or not, nothing comes easy in this league.
