Harry Kane inspired a devastating second-half surge as Bayern Munich swept aside VfB Stuttgart 5-0 to tighten their grip on the Bundesliga summit and extend their unbeaten start to the season.

Bayern Munich underlined their title credentials with a ruthless display against Stuttgart, dismantling their hosts 5-0 at the MHPArena in a match that truly exploded after the break. Vincent Kompany’s side made it 13 unbeaten games to start the Bundesliga campaign, showing depth, power and clinical edge.

The early signs were ominous for Stuttgart. Bayern struck in the 11th minute when Konrad Laimer stole in from close range to flick home after fine work from Michael Olise. The hosts refused to fold, though, and briefly thought they had levelled when Nikolas Nartey headed in from a free-kick, only for VAR to rule the goal out for a marginal offside.

Stuttgart carried that belief into the start of the second half, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. But the game turned decisively with the introduction of Harry Kane.

On 66 minutes, the England captain announced his arrival in emphatic fashion, collecting a neat lay-off before unleashing a thunderous 25-yard strike that left Alexander Nubel helpless. From that moment, Bayern shifted into another gear.

Josip Stanisic made it 3-0 in the 78th minute with a sharply taken effort that slipped through the Stuttgart keeper at the near post, before the contest slipped completely away from the home side. Lorenz Assignon was sent off for deliberate handball, handing Kane the chance to add his second from the penalty spot, which he calmly dispatched.

Kane was not done. In the dying minutes, he completed his hat-trick by stabbing home from close range after a surging run and square ball from Olise, bringing his season tally to a remarkable 28 goals in all competitions.

The statistics reflected Bayerns dominance. An expected goals figure of 3.52 highlighted their attacking superiority, while Stuttgart were limited to just 0.88 despite their early resistance.

For Kompany, it was another flawless league outing ahead of Bayerns final Champions League fixture of the year. For Stuttgart, it was a harsh reminder of the level required to compete with a Bayern side that, right now, look every inch champions in waiting.
