Nottingham Forest shocked Liverpool with a ruthless 3–0 win at Anfield, handing the champions their sixth defeat in seven league outings.

Liverpool were left facing serious questions after Nottingham Forest delivered a convincing 3–0 victory at a silenced Anfield, a result that dragged the Reds deeper into crisis and lifted the Tricky Trees out of the relegation zone.

Forest struck first in the 33rd minute through Murillo, whose composed finish arrived from a flat corner that Liverpool failed to deal with. Virgil van Dijk’s attempted clearance only redirected the ball dangerously, and although there were brief appeals for obstruction, the goal stood after a VAR check.

Any hope of a Liverpool revival evaporated almost instantly after the interval. Within a minute of the restart, Neco Williams drilled a sharp cut-back across a crowded penalty area, finding Nicolo Savona, who hammered home his second league goal of the season to make it 2–0. The visitors’ efficiency was brutal, capitalizing on Liverpool’s sluggish reaction and porous defending.

Forest delivered the final blow in the 78th minute. Alisson did well to parry Hutchinson’s initial strike, but Morgan Gibbs-White was quickest to the rebound, steering a clean finish into the bottom-right corner. It marked his third consecutive match on the scoresheet and sealed a commanding win for Sean Dyche’s resurgent side.

Liverpool created chances but continually failed to convert. Mac Allister forced a smart save before the break, and Gakpo had a goal-bound effort cleared off the line, yet the hosts’ finishing lacked conviction. Despite generating an expected goals tally of 2.02, the Reds ended the match without reward — a stark contrast to Forest, who struck clinically from limited opportunities and executed their game plan with discipline.

The reigning champions have now lost six of their last seven league games and slip to 11th, drifting further away from the top of the table. Forest, meanwhile, earned a rare Anfield triumph and are unbeaten in three league meetings with Liverpool for the first time since 1993.

The Reds face urgent decisions as pressure grows on Arne Slot, while Forest leave Merseyside full of belief after a statement performance.
