Kakamega Homeboyz came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Stars at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday, October 18, while Shabana and Nairobi United played out a goalless stalemate in the second round of the 2026/27 SportPesa Premier League season.

Maurice Ojwang struck late in the second half to rescue a point for Homeboyz after Jacob Onyango had given Ulinzi the lead in the 29th minute.

The result denied Ulinzi Stars their first victory of the campaign and prevented Homeboyz from registering consecutive wins following their opening-round triumph over Mombasa United.

The encounter began with both sides looking to establish control, but clear scoring opportunities proved difficult to create during the opening exchanges.

Homeboyz suffered an early setback in the 24th minute when Mudavadi was forced off following a head injury, with Odaro introduced as his replacement.

Five minutes later, the visitors capitalised on a defensive lapse to break the deadlock.

Onyango took advantage of a mistake in the Homeboyz backline and found the net to hand Ulinzi a 1-0 advantage.

The goal gave the Soldiers confidence as they looked to build on their lead, while Homeboyz were forced to chase the game in front of their supporters.

Despite attempts to respond before the interval, the hosts failed to find an equaliser and headed into the dressing room trailing by a solitary goal.

Homeboyz returned for the second half determined to overturn the deficit, but Ulinzi maintained their narrow advantage as the contest progressed.

The visitors made changes in an attempt to manage the game, introducing Maxwell in place of Jacob Onyango in the 60th minute.

Joseph Kajos was brought on for Shambi five minutes later as Ulinzi sought fresh energy for the closing stages.

Homeboyz continued searching for a breakthrough, with the hosts still trailing 1-0 after 75 minutes.

Their persistence eventually paid off in the closing stages when Ojwang found the back of the net to restore parity and spark celebrations among the home supporters.

The late equaliser changed the complexion of the encounter, leaving both teams with an opportunity to snatch all three points.

Ulinzi introduced Nyambane for Adrian in the 90th minute, but neither side could produce another breakthrough before the final whistle.

The 1-1 result saw Homeboyz move to four points from their opening two league matches, while Ulinzi collected their first point of the campaign.

In another league encounter, Shabana were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Nairobi United in a closely contested match that saw both teams create opportunities without finding the decisive finish.

Nairobi United made a bright start and threatened as early as the fourth minute when Ovella advanced down the flank and delivered a dangerous cross that was deflected behind for a corner.

Four minutes later, Kizza floated a free-kick into the penalty area, where Bate connected with a header that went narrowly wide.

Shabana gradually settled into the contest and won their first corner in the 13th minute, although they failed to make the opportunity count.

The match became increasingly competitive, with both teams battling for possession and space in midfield.

Nairobi United midfielder Karamor drew a foul in the 19th minute, resulting in a yellow card for a Shabana player.

There was controversy in the 30th minute when Shabana appealed for a penalty following a suspected handball inside the area, but the referee waved away their claims.

Former Nairobi United player Brian Ogutu was among Shabana's influential performers, helping the hosts maintain their attacking presence during the opening half.

Nairobi United defender Biko produced an important sliding challenge in the 40th minute to deny a promising Shabana attack, although he required attention after the intervention.

Despite opportunities at both ends, the teams went into the half-time break with the score still 0-0.

Nairobi United made a change at the beginning of the second half, introducing Dancan Omala in place of Kizza.

Shabana threatened again in the 50th minute, but goalkeeper Faruk Shikalo comfortably gathered an effort directed towards his goal.

The visitors made a double substitution in the 58th minute, with Mark Kithome and Benson Omala replacing Ovella and Karamor as they searched for greater attacking effectiveness.

Shabana increased the pressure as the second half progressed, forcing Shikalo into an important save in the 68th minute to preserve the deadlock.

Nairobi United nearly found the breakthrough in the 75th minute following an attacking move involving the Omala players.

An initial challenge by the goalkeeper left the ball loose, and the subsequent delivery flashed across the face of goal without a teammate applying the finishing touch.

The visitors faced another difficult moment in the 88th minute when Bate was booked following a challenge near the penalty area, handing Shabana a free-kick in a dangerous position.

However, the hosts could not take advantage of the opportunity, and the match ended without a goal.

The result left Shabana with four points from their opening two fixtures after beginning the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Posta Rangers.

Nairobi United, meanwhile, recorded their second consecutive draw, having opened their season with a 2-2 stalemate against KCB.

Both teams will be seeking greater attacking efficiency in their upcoming fixtures as the SportPesa Premier League campaign continues.
