Torres Hat-Trick Powers PSG to Six-Goal Champions League Rout

Ferran Torres marked his first European appearance for PSG with a hat-trick, while Ousmane Dembele scored twice and Fabian Ruiz completed the rout. Suleiman Camara supplied Slovan's lone response in a one-sided league-phase opener.

Luis Enrique made five changes following PSG's 2-1 defeat to Monaco, handing Champions League debuts for the club to Torres and Maghnes Akliouche. Dembele, Nuno Mendes, Illia Zabarnyi and Dro Fernandez also returned to the starting side.

The reigning European champions dominated almost immediately and should have been ahead inside three minutes, but Dominik Takac denied Fernandez after an early PSG attack.

Slovan resisted until the 17th minute.

Dembele initially delivered into the area before Mendes unleashed a powerful volley that crashed against the post. The rebound fell kindly to Dembele, who controlled before drilling a left-footed finish beyond Takac.

Six minutes later, the France international struck again.

Slovan attempted to play out from defence but surrendered possession. Fernandez's eventual cross took a deflection across the six-yard area, where an unmarked Dembele headed home to double PSG's advantage.

Dembele then turned creator for PSG's third in the 31st minute.

He sent an inviting inswinging delivery across goal and Torres arrived to guide the ball past Takac, opening his Champions League account for his new club.

PSG could easily have added more before the break. Dembele was denied a first-half hat-trick by a remarkable Takac save that pushed his close-range effort onto the crossbar.

Luis Enrique's side went into half-time 3-0 ahead after recording more than 70 percent possession, 21 attempts and an expected-goals total of 3.6, compared with Slovan's 0.24.

Any hope of a second-half recovery disappeared within two minutes of the restart.

Akliouche drove into the Slovan penalty area from the right and showed excellent composure to find Torres, who took a touch before bending a right-footed finish beyond Takac from the edge of the box for his second goal.

The Spain international completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute.

Dembele's corner travelled through the crowded penalty area before reaching Torres, who managed to divert the ball beyond Takac and make it 5-0. The goal also took Torres to 20 Champions League goals during his career.

Dembele's contribution to the fifth meant he finished his evening with two goals and two assists, underlining his influence on a devastating PSG attacking performance.

Slovan responded two minutes later through one of their most impressive performers.

Tigran Barseghyan released Camara, who drove infield from the left before cutting back and powering an excellent right-footed strike beyond Matvey Safonov to reduce the deficit to 5-1.

The goal provided Yaya Toure's side with something to celebrate on a historic night for their manager. Toure became the first African coach to take charge of a match in the Champions League proper.

PSG continued creating opportunities despite Luis Enrique making several substitutions, and Fabian Ruiz eventually added the sixth late on.

A quickly taken corner reached Fernandez on the right side of the penalty area. His delivery was only partially cleared and Ruiz met the loose ball first time, steering his left-footed effort into the far corner.

The performance represented an immediate statement from a team attempting to achieve something only Real Madrid, Ajax and Bayern Munich have previously managed by winning the European Cup or Champions League in at least three successive seasons.

PSG's league-phase programme will become considerably tougher, with Manchester City, Barcelona, Villarreal, Roma, Aston Villa, Como and Galatasaray still among their scheduled opponents.

For now, though, Luis Enrique could hardly have asked for a stronger opening to another European campaign as Torres announced himself with a hat-trick and Dembele again demonstrated why he remains central to PSG's ambitions.
