Tusker FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over hosts Ulinzi Stars in an intense FKF Premier League showdown at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon. Erick Kapaito’s decisive second-half goal was the pivotal moment that earned the Brewers three valuable points, propelling them to third place in the league standings. Meanwhile, Ulinzi Stars remained in 13th place, maintaining a four-point buffer above the relegation zone.
The match began with a somber tone as both teams observed a minute’s silence in honor of Gen Ogolla, the fallen Chief of Defence Forces, and the nine military officers who tragically lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash. Players wore black armbands as a mark of respect for the fallen heroes.
Ulinzi Stars started brightly, applying early pressure that forced Tusker FC to defend deep in their own half. The first notable chance came in the 24th minute when Issa Lumumba tested Tusker goalkeeper Brian Bwire with a shot from a corner.
