Arsenal Near Zubimendi Deal

Arsenal have completed a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, with more signings on the way as Mikel Arteta prepares for a busy summer transfer window.

Arsenal have officially kicked off their summer transfer activity with the signing of midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Mikel Arteta is set to receive significant backing this window, with several high-impact additions expected to follow as the club aims to push closer to major silverware.

Zubimendi’s arrival has been confirmed by top journalists and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who issued his well-known “here we go” signal on Saturday. The Spanish midfielder joins for €60 million after Arsenal activated his release clause, with Jorginho departing to Flamengo as a free agent.

Another deal nearing completion involves Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Arsenal previously pursued the 24-year-old last summer and even submitted two bids, the largest reportedly around €25 million. While Espanyol held firm on a €30 million valuation at the time, fresh reports suggest an agreement is now close. Garcia is expected to provide competition for David Raya rather than simply fill a backup role.

Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that Arsenal will strengthen their attack with a new striker and a left winger. Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as the club’s top target up front. The Swedish international has enjoyed a prolific season, scoring 52 goals in 49 appearances. Though his release clause is set at €100 million, a prior agreement allows him to leave for around €70 million—a figure Arsenal are prepared to meet.

New sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the charge for Gyokeres, and according to reports, the striker favors a move to Arsenal over Manchester United, despite speculation linking him with a reunion with his former manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. While Arsenal had previously made progress on a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, the focus has now shifted fully to Gyokeres.

On the flanks, Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams is a key target. The Spain international, who has a €58 million release clause, is seen as a potential upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli. His wage demands are reportedly high, but Arsenal remain seriously interested in bringing him to North London.

With Zubimendi signed, Garcia close, and attacking reinforcements lined up, Arsenal are clearly moving aggressively to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
