Enock Morrison has completed a move from Gor Mahia to Sudanese giants Al Merrikh SC, dealing K'Ogalo a major blow as they prepare for the CAF Champions League and the defence of their FKF Premier League title.
The Ghanaian midfielder joins Al Merrikh on a three-year contract, ending his stay at Gor Mahia after a strong season in Kenyan football. His new club confirmed the transfer on Sunday, 21 June, through a social media announcement welcoming him to the Sudanese side.
Al Merrikh described Morrison as a new addition to their squad until 2029, praising him as a player expected to make an impact at one of Sudan's most successful clubs.
The move brings an end to weeks of speculation over Morrison's future. The 26-year-old had been linked with a departure from Gor Mahia as his contract approached its final days, and his switch has now been sealed before the start of the new campaign.
Morrison joined Gor Mahia in July 2024 from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko and quickly became one of the club's most influential players. His quality in midfield, composure on the ball and ability to control the tempo made him an important figure in the team.
One of his standout early performances came against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League preliminary round in September 2024. Although Gor Mahia lost the home match 3-0, Morrison's display impressed many supporters and showed the level of experience he had brought into the squad.
His first season at the club ended without a trophy, but he played a central role in the campaign that followed as Gor Mahia reclaimed the FKF Premier League title from Police FC.
Morrison's influence was recognised at the end-of-season Gala Awards, where he was named the FKF Premier League Most Valuable Player. He beat competition from former Murang'a Seal midfielder Joe Waithira and AFC Leopards' Tyson Otieno to claim the top individual award.
He was also named the league's Best Midfielder, completing a memorable season that confirmed his status as one of the best players in the Kenyan top flight.
His departure now leaves Gor Mahia with a serious gap to fill. The record Kenyan champions are expected to strengthen their squad as they prepare to return to continental football, where they will represent the country in the CAF Champions League.
For head coach and management, replacing a player of Morrison's profile will be a major priority. His ability to dictate play, link defence with attack and provide leadership in midfield made him one of the key pillars of the team.
Gor Mahia will also be under pressure to retain their domestic dominance, with rivals expected to strengthen ahead of the new FKF Premier League season.
Morrison's move to Al Merrikh gives him a new challenge in Sudanese football, while Gor Mahia must quickly adjust to life without the league's reigning MVP.
