Gor Mahia reaffirmed their dominance in Kenyan football with a commanding 2–0 victory over Kenya Police in the electrifying “Sirkal Derby” at Nyayo Stadium, as Felix Oluoch and Musa Sharif fired the champions to another statement win.

Gor Mahia once again proved why they remain the benchmark in Kenyan football, cruising to a 2–0 win over Kenya Police in the much-anticipated “Sirkal Derby” at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The defending champions wasted no time in asserting their authority, breaking the deadlock inside just two minutes. Ghanaian winger Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw, returning from injury, showed his class with a perfectly timed pass that set up Felix Oluoch to finish clinically past goalkeeper Job Ochieng. The early goal sent the Green Army faithful into raptures and set the stage for a dominant display.

Kenya Police looked to respond quickly, and Austine Odhiambo’s well-delivered free-kick nearly paid off when David Ochuoga’s glancing header drifted inches wide. That moment summed up their first-half frustrations — plenty of possession and promise but lacking precision in front of goal.

Gor Mahia, by contrast, remained composed and organized. Their midfield trio of Austin Odhiambo, Enock Morrison, and Ernest Wendo controlled the tempo, dictating play and breaking up Police’s attacking rhythm.

In the 32nd minute, Gor doubled their lead with a moment of pure quality. Defender Mike Kibwage picked out Musa Sharif with a pinpoint long pass that sliced through the Police backline. The youngster showed composure beyond his years, lifting the ball delicately over the onrushing Ochieng to make it 2–0.

Morrison almost added a third before the break, forcing Ochieng into a sharp save after another well-crafted move from midfield. At halftime, Gor Mahia looked in complete control compact in defense, fluid in attack, and brimming with confidence.

Police returned from the interval with renewed energy. Coach Dusan Stojanovic made tactical changes, introducing David Simiyu and Clinton Kinanga in a bid to spark a comeback. The adjustments injected more urgency, with Erick Zakayo coming close in the 65th minute after weaving past defenders before firing narrowly over the bar.

Simiyu’s header moments later from David Okoth’s cross also tested Gor’s backline, but goalkeeper Byrne Omondi remained untroubled. The substitute continued to cause problems, drawing a yellow card from Kibwage as Gor’s defense was forced to stay alert.

Despite Police’s improved second-half showing, Gor Mahia’s discipline and composure saw them comfortably see out the match. Their tactical organization, coupled with the sharpness of their front line, ensured the champions claimed another deserved win.

The victory strengthens Gor Mahia’s grip on top spot and reinforces their dominance in the local football scene. Kenya Police, meanwhile, will rue a slow start and missed chances that cost them dearly in a fixture that demanded perfection.
