Gor Mahia cruised to a 3–0 victory over Posta Rangers at Nyayo Stadium, dedicating the win to their late patron Raila Odinga. Meanwhile, Shabana FC fell 1–0 to Mathare United in Kisii despite strong home support and a spirited second-half push.

Gor Mahia produced a commanding second-half display to defeat Posta Rangers 3–0 in an emotional afternoon at Nyayo National Stadium, while Shabana FC suffered a narrow 1–0 home defeat to Mathare United in Kisii.

Gor Mahia Dominate in Emotional Victory

Gor Mahia turned on the style in the second half to secure a comfortable victory over Posta Rangers, a result the club dedicated to their departed patron Raila Odinga.

After a goalless first half, Gor shifted gears following the restart. The introduction of Ben Stanley, Austin Odhiambo, and Felix Ochieng proved decisive, as all three substitutes found the back of the net in a clinical second-half performance.

Stanley opened the scoring in the 58th minute with a superb header, connecting cleanly with a precise cross from Shariff. Moments later, Austin doubled the lead with a composed finish after a slick passing move that cut through the Rangers’ backline.

Felix then capped off the victory deep into stoppage time, converting to make it 3–0 and seal the three points in front of an electrified crowd at Nyayo Stadium.

The players celebrated passionately at full time, dedicating the win to Odinga — affectionately referred to as “Baba” — with the club posting, “We dedicate this big win to our departed Patron, Raila Odinga. Continue resting in peace, Baba.”

The result lifts Gor Mahia higher up the FKF Premier League standings and extends their unbeaten start to the season, reinforcing their status as the league’s early pacesetters.

Shabana Fall Short at Home Against Mathare United

In Kisii, Shabana FC were left frustrated after falling 1–0 to Mathare United in front of a passionate home crowd at Gusii Stadium.

The decisive goal came late in the first half when Mathare capitalised on a defensive lapse to find the back of the net through a close-range finish in the 39th minute.

Despite an improved second-half showing, Shabana could not find an equaliser. Substitutes Gilbert Abala and Brian Olega added attacking energy, but clear chances remained hard to come by against a compact Mathare defence.

After the match, Shabana FC thanked their fans for turning out in large numbers, confirming a gross ticket revenue collection of KSh 1,197,000, and vowed to bounce back stronger.

“Not the result your support deserved, but we promise to bounce back,” the club said in a statement. “It was great seeing the stadium painted red and white — thank you for the love and support.”

The defeat leaves Shabana searching for their first win in recent fixtures, while Mathare United will take confidence from the hard-fought result on the road.
